Davide Biale, best known by his online alias Davie504, is an Italian bass player known for challenging his 13.8 million subscribers in a fun way. Yahoo Entertainment points out that while creating content may look easy at face value, it requires consistent dedication and is not for the faint of heart.
During the global shutdown in 2020, Biale began focusing 100% on his YouTube channel, posting three videos a week. In his latest video (view below), he lets his followers know the reason he barely posts anything anymore.
"For years, I had faith in my country. I paid over 60% of what I earned in taxes. I told myself if those taxes help improve my country, better future for the next generation, then it's a price I'm proud to pay," he shared.
But he started asking what he was getting for his 60%.
"Healthcare is free, sure, but if you ever try to use it for something urgent, if you need to see a specialist, or you need an important scan, then the waiting lists are six months, even one year long," Biale explained.
He said things have been going downhill since 2023, when the finance police came after him. The moment he lost faith in Italy was when his home was raided.
"When you've spent a decade building a career out of nothing, trying to follow every complicated rule, and you're still being treated like a fugitive, something breaks inside you," the bassist lamented.
As he closes the Italy chapter of his life, Biale noted that some of the smartest and most ambitious people he knows are also leaving — not because they want to, but because they have to.
Sooner or later, it happens in all socialist countries.
"You can see the system failing everywhere," he said. "The system is so broken; it's just unfair."
